When I pitched the idea of the Self-Rep Navigators to Mick Hassell a few years ago, I really did not expect much. All I thought was how nice it would be for a group of lawyers who offer “limited scope retainer” to get together to support one another. Our group has steadily grown since then. We even have committees in place! We have a few LSUC accredited CPD’s under our belt, and we are developing future CPD’s that will be available for non-members. We are also extremely fortunate to have three new impressive new members join our group: Omar Ha-Redeye, Dan Rosman and Sam Michaels. To top it all off, Colin Lachance vLex Canada offered to give all members free subscription to his premium legal research service. So, as you can see, we have a lot to be thankful for.
Finally, I want to say again, how much I truly appreciate each member’s contributions to the group. All our progress so far is achieved by his/her own time and effort. That is what I find so remarkable. We are driven by the desire to affect positive social change through responsible and sustainable business practices. My dream is for the Navigators to develop high quality, affordable legal services so that access to justice is a reality. We’re off to a good start. I look forward to celebrating many Thanksgivings with them in the future.
