Born and raised in Markham, Andrew earned his Honours Bachelor of Arts with High Distinction from the University of Toronto in 2008. At UTSC, he founded the UTSC Pre-Law Association, played trumpet for the UTSC Jazz and Concern Ensembles and hosted a radio show at Scarborough Fusion Radio.
Andrew went on to the University of New Brunswick where he earned his Bachelor of Laws in 2011. While in Fredericton, Andrew participated in the Sopinka Cup Moot where he honed his trial advocacy skills.
Andrew joined Shawyer Family Law as an articling student and has been an associate at Shawyer Family Law since June of 2012. His practice includes all aspects of family law and child welfare law. He frequently appears at the Ontario Court of Justice and Ontario Superior Court of Justice.
Andrew has acted as counsel on two occasions for litigants who have challenged the constitutionality of section 31 of Ontario’s Family Law Act regarding child support for adult children of unmarried parents.
Andrew’s goal is to provide clients with the best legal services possible. To him that means finding out what his individual clients’ needs are, tailoring a strategy to suit those needs, and striving to resolve the clients’ issues in a cost-effective, efficient and timely manner.
Andrew is also involved with the Ontario Bar Association, Young Lawyers Division where he is the Co-Chair and he is a Director of Alumni Relations on the University of Toronto Scarborough Alumni Association.
